Book Title - Mayil Will Not Be Quiet Authors - Sowmya Rajendran and Niveditha Subramaniam Illustrator – Niveditha Subramaniam The side character chosen – Jyothi, a classmate of Mayil Ganeshan, the protagonist. In the book, Jyothi is fair, has smooth and straight hair, and is admired by many boys and girls. In my illustration, she has a darker complexion and curly hair and is a complete nerd. Reasons for the new physical traits - Jyothi is always giving unsolicited tips to Mayil to make her look better. Mayil finds this infuriating, and to make things worse, somebody comments that though Jyothi is dumb, she is pretty. Mayil is not dumb, but she would be better off without a face. Also, Ki, Mayil's best friend, is slowly drifting away from her and is always in The Jyothi Universe. Vidyashankar Parvathi, aka VS, the boy on whom, Mayil has a crush, has soft feelings for Jyothi. So, Mayil wonders what is so good about Jyothi. Is it because she is beautiful? Hence, I have turned Jyothi into someone whom Mayil would like to make Jyothi her friend and share everything with her.
