Hello everybody. Today I will recite a poem written by my Mother, about a day in my life as a Magical Christmas Tree and how I learned that all festivals are always a lot of fun, but, to make them meaningful, we must make them eco-friendly, and ensure that life on earth is magical for a very long time. Here’s -
“When I was Not Me”
I should have stayed in bed that day, in bed’s where I belong -
As soon as I woke up, things started to go wrong!
Leaves for hands and trunk for a neck;
Legs deep under the floor! I was a “Magical Christmas Tree”!
Now I could give life,
To festoons, baubles and toys tonight.
And, Ho ho ho! I was not Me, anymore!
Abra Doodle Doo”, I said - “My great-grandma's Gift, rise, tell me what you bear!”
“Inside me,” said she,
Inside my wasteful paper wrappers,”
“Are plastic toys, toxic colors and stuff -
The earth could have been spared!”
“Abra Doodle Doo” - I said,
“Away with you unhappy boxes,
Come alive, my colorful decorations!”
But to my surprise, they disliked me too!
“We are made from materials, life-threatening to the seas,
Use your magic, try to remember -
When you were a tree!”
I say Abra doodle dee - my memories rush back,
Of the human that hacked my breath;
From being alive, I was an object, instead.
“Iris!..wake up!” my Mum’s voice, I am alive and free!
That day I decided, I love Christmas and gifts -
But eco friendly must be abided!
Use less paper, reduce, reuse, recycle;
And plant more “Me” -
For you see, it wasn’t easy; to be the magical Christmas Tree!
